Only a very few people know that I am a visual learner. Whenever I drive through town or go for a walk, almost all the signs and advertisements catch my attention. But last week as I was driving back home after a long day I saw a particular advertisement at a traffic light. It said STRONG SOLID SECURE.

Wait a minute!! Its not everyday that you see those three words together. I checked up further and I saw that this was an advertisement for a bank at that junction. But even though it was just an ad from a bank, it struck a chord in me.

So lets take a detour to English 101. The words Strong Secure and Solid are all adjectives. But the nouns of the respective words are Strength, Solidity and Security.

Only banks and some powerful organizations can guarantee these. But that too only to an extent.

The only other person who can guarantee these are Jesus.

Think about it!

Lets take a look at what the Bible says about these words.

Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.

Isaiah 41:10 NIV

God does not just guarantee us strength. In the KJV translation it says “I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.”

When God says He will strengthen you, you must understand that He gives you much more than strength. He upholds you. He supports you. He lifts you up just like a father who lifts up his small child up on his shoulders.

The beauty of it is that it does not end there. In Chapter 40 v 31,He says He will renew your strength.

But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

The guarantee God is placing is much more than any bank or person or organization can give us. He says He will strengthen us and uphold us. But if we ever feel like we are failing, He renews our strength.

Moving on to the next one : Solidity. The English dictionary defines Solidity as firmness or the quality of being reliable.

God’s word is solid. Its firm and its more than reliable.

Matthew 24:35, Mark 13:31 and Luke 21:33 (NIV) says,

Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.

This is not just a statement. It’s a promise.

A promise that is a key to all the other promises. Come what may, His promises are solid. They are firm. They are reliable. Because what God says will come to pass. There is no exception on His promises. He will fulfill His promises.

Lastly, Security.

In Psalm 91, David writes :” God’s my refuge and fortress”.

Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say to the LORD, “You are my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”

Psalm 91:1-2

A fortress is a military stronghold, especially a strongly fortified town fit for a large garrison. In medieval times, a fortress is anything but unbreachable. To invade and breach into a fortress is close to an impossible task. David knows that He is secure in the fortress. No matter what happens, the shelter of the Almighty is most secure place in the entire universe.

Wrapping up, God is the only one who can guarantee all these three, Strength, Solidity and Security. Though people or banks or organizations may be able to guarantee us these, they have limits.

There is only one place that you can get all these three and an extra guarantee that no matter what may come, He will not leave us. That is in His presence.

Blessings and Shalom.
