When most people wish me Happy Thanksgiving I tend to go savage on them and tell them “Well for a Christian every day is Thanksgiving”.
Yes it’s a bit cliché. But it is also very true.
As Followers of Jesus Christ we ought to live our lives in Gratitude.
We must be thankful for the prayers he has answered.
Thankful for the prayers he did not answer as well.
Thankful for the blessings we enjoy daily.
Thankful for the unending and everlasting love of God.
Thankful that He came into this world.
Thankful that He died on the cross.
Thankful that He came into our lives.
Thankful for the sacrifice He made on the cross.
Thankful for what He did in the past, for what He is doing now and what He will do in the future.
In fact our first words every morning when we wake up must be “Thank You Lord!”.
“Be cheerful no matter what; pray all the time; thank God no matter what happens. This is the way God wants you who belong to Christ Jesus to live.”
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 MSG
There are three things God wants us to do no matter what :-
1. Be Cheerful
2. Always Pray
3. Have Gratitude
The last part of the verses says this is what God wants you who belong to Jesus Christ to live.
So always be cheerful no matter what the circumstances. Put on a smile.
Be strong in prayer and know the heart of God. Know that He is beside you always.
Be Thankful. Gratitude is the best Attitude. Give thanks to God for all He has done in the past, all that He is doing in the present and all that He will do in the future.
And finally, on this Thanksgiving Day let’s not just be full of turkey or ham in our stomachs but let us be full of gratitude in our hearts.
